The Best Romantic Suspense Books

Romance week continues! Today, we're leaving the paranormal behind and beckoning forth the awesome that is romantic suspense. (read more)

These authors weave together a brilliant back story, characters you can believe in, and a romance that burns bright, but doesn't overshadow the suspense. After all, for me, if a book is romantic suspense, it needs to be suspenseful!

Check out three authors that I can't get enough of. If they release a new book, it's an automatic purchase, have no doubt!

LAURA GRIFFIN
TRACERS

Laura Griffin is a solid author. She writes some fantastic romantic suspense, and easily walks that line between, "too much romance" and, "I don't really feel the vibe between the main characters".

There is a common theme among each of these 12 books (the 13th releases in May), a murder occurs, investigators get involved, and they invariably need the help of an elite group of forensic scientists known as the Tracers.

Each book focuses mainly on one male and female lead, with a happy ending at the end.

If you are a romantic suspense lover, but are tired of books that are too light on the story and too heavy on the "hot and heavy', Laura Griffin will not disappoint.

Laura Griffin does write other books, but the Tracers (for me) is her best. If you love her writing, you might also check out The Glass Sisters, two book series.

SUZANNE BROCKMANN
TROUBLESHOOTERS

Suzanne Brockmann writes books for people who love romantic suspense with a military/special forces theme. Each of these books follows a specific member of a Navy SEAL team. You have a typical male lead with a strong female lead, and some mystery that needs to be solved.

My favorite part of these books (aside from how many there are) is that you get to know each member of the SEAL team throughout the book, connecting with them and wanting to know more about them before they get their own book.

Reading through this series was so much fun, not only because the balance of romance and suspense was so well done, but also because she wrote the characters so well that I just could not wait to hear their individual stories.

Troubleshooters is a must read, you really don't want to miss it!

LINDA HOWARD

The first book I ever read of Linda Howard's was Mr. Perfect. Once I'd read that book, I was hooked. Thankfully, she has a TON of books on the market.

These do not follow a romantic suspense format you'd typically think of. Meaning, the book could be about a cop, have a military theme, or just be about a group of friends who are investigating a decades old murder.

No matter what she writes about though, she delivers a fantastic story, characters you can really get to know, and the perfect balance of mystery and romance.
